The 700-bed Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH) and 400-bed Jurong Community Hospital (JCH) form key components of the Jurong Lakeside District, which is set to be one of the top destinations for business and leisure in Singapore. As part of DataSeer’s community initiative for 2017, we recently delivered a free one hour workshop on telling stories with data to doctors and health professionals at the all new hospital!
It was a beautiful day when we arrived at the hospital. On a sunny day most would rather be spending time outdoors rather than sitting inside talking about electronic health records! Luckily, we had a very engaged audience and had plenty of fun sharing data visualization best practices with some sharp medical minds. Ng Teng Fong Hospital is one of the few hospitals that has scored “Stage 7” in the HIMSS Analytics electronic medical adoption model, and after meeting with the bioinformatics team, we can see why. There is a commitment to being more data driven at this hospital, something other hospitals in the region could learn from.
Overall, we had a lot of fun sharing the art of data storytelling with the doctors, bioinformaticians and data professionals at Jurong and Ng Teng Fong. We look forward to empowering more medical professionals to harness their data to find new insights in 2017.
Many thanks to Hermione Poh, Principal Informatics Officer and her team for inviting us to speak.
